The rest of the article is an appalling recitation of men being set up by the police and charged with prostitution. After one guy pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct on his lawyer's advice: "He was also ordered to go to city-sponsored classes on how to engage in prostitution more safely."

The mind boggles.

Wow! Almost makes you wish the murder rate in Manhattan would go up so that the NYPD won't be wasting time with this. Can't they just go after the porn stores for tax evasion or something if that's what they really want to do? Oh, no, wait, they'd rather criminalize pickups. These are the days I'm glad I live in the annoying city by the bay, because this tactic would have lasted approximately 10 milliseconds here.
